Emerging Directions is a collection of modular rugs measuring 24” x 24” that consists of two styles with pronounced texture patterns, all inspired by the Swedish concept of Lagom. This is a lifestyle principle that involves living a balanced life and appreciating the humble things around us. The word Lagom means “the just right amount,” and this was the main inspiration for the patterns, which give the user of a space the feeling that things are in their place, neither too stimulating nor too calm. This results in a sense of belonging to a place and being at peace with the environment. The quality of the rug's texture also plays a role in this sense, with loops reminiscent of natural fibers and textured knitwork.
